Street Style: Couple co-ordination

Dan’s John Lennon t-shirt is from ASOS and Jess’s top and necklace are both from Topshop.

We like the fact that these two seem to have co-ordinated their outfits, we doubt it was a conscious thing but they certainly look good together.

Jess’s hair and make up is perfect for going out and we love her hot pink nail polish that adds that little touch of colour to her outfit.

No7 have a polish in this colour (Fuscia Pink £6) that we just can’t get enough at the moment.

80s Shoulders Pads A Go-Go, Or A Serious No-No?

I have decided that this winter I am totally all about the sharp, jutting shoulders of Balmain, Peter Pilotto et al. It’s safe to say I’m over the pretty florals, the romantic new-nudes, the feminine delights, of yesterseason. Winter ’09 is Summer ‘09’s wicked alter ego. I am so Sasha Fierce! And one does not need the budget of Beyonce to rock such a statement look. I just purchased the high-street blazer to end all high-street blazers, at Zara. Military detailing, fabulous structure. I’m completely in love for less than £90! I also have a little cream body-con wonder from the H&M limited edition Divided collection waiting in my wardrobe for a fitting occasion. I spotted Kim Kardashian looking amazing in it a few weeks ago, which just goes to show that even a celebrity could not resist its £29.99 fabulousness.
So what are you saying about the statement shoulder? Are you a fan of the never-ending 80s revivals, or are they best left at the back of the 80s power dresser’s closet?

Give it some welly!

We have been looking forward to the beginning of the festival season to begin since last years finished. All this anticipation and then when it does finally get here we realise we haven’t got half of the things we need.

Have you got your wellies yet? We just realised we need some, especially as we are heading to Glastonbury in oh, just one weeks time. How long have we had to plan? Don’t ask.

Scouting around looking for the right wellies, what are the main considerations? Practicality, comfort and of course style come top of our list. But with so many choices it’s so hard to choose!

Here are some of our favourites:

Tattoo cowboy wellies £39.99
Pussy
www.pussyhomeboutique.co.uk
Oh we love these we do. Cowboy imitations with a heel, different from the rest and surprisingly affordable, but can we handle four days solid dancing out of flats? I’m not so sure.

Hunter wellies £60.00
Hunter www.hunter-boot.com
When it comes to wellington boots, Hunter is the leaders of the pack. Quality and time assured, you can’t really go wrong with a pair of these – they are even endorsed by the wonderful Kate Moss. Available in a huge range of colours, you are bound to find one that suits you.

TIP: search around online for other reputable stockists as you will probably be able to find them a bit cheaper elsewhere.

Paisley Blue Evercreatures Wellies £40.00 Freds www.fredsclothing.co.uk
Evercreatures new design for summer 2009 is bright, fun and perfect for the festivals. We love this design and they also look really comfy. They are also on offer at the moment so grab them quick and save £some whilst you can.

Printed Wellington Boot £12.00
Asda
www.direct.asda.com
Good old Asda have come up with this bargain boot that we absolutely love. The contemporary print, colours and price tag are right up our street.

Barry is Peachy!

We are absolutely loving Bazza's new collection of lip paints... Barry M to you guys. On trend as always, these new key colours are the sexiest summer shades for every ladies pout. The long wearing texture that makes Barry M's collection of lip paints almost a lip stain are perfect for those who are looking for lasting colour. Our favourite has to be the Peachy Pink no. 147 (£4.25 - Boots and Superdrug), as the most wearable off all, the orange and pink tone gives a fashion led look suitable for all skin tones.

BEST WAYS TO FAKE IT!

Whether your off on your hols, or raving it up at a festival this summer, a gorgeous tan has got to be on every girl and boys wish list. From pumps to sprays, and lotions to tan towels we have road tested the best ways to fake it,
saving you on all the hassle and orange palms.

The instant tan, perfect for a night out, popping your legs on show, but we don't suggest skinny dipping. Great for slap dash tanning, and as it only takes a few minutes to pop on and then get out, we rate the wash off bronzing as the easiest to apply, with minimum risk and instant impact. The only downside is that the next day you have to do it all over again.

At only £1.95 the 2true Wash Off Skin Bronzer (Superdrug) is a bargain, although the little bottle only supplies a couple of applications. The colour is deep and dark, with minimal Orange tones. We would recommend this to inexperienced tanners, and those who are in need of a quick fix.

Gradual tanning is a longer lasting alternative, yet still an easy option. With added moisture, to give you softer skin as well as a natural glow, you can apply your tan for a few days to build up the desired affect. The long lasting natural colour is perfect for those who want a subtle tan, although this can be intensified over a few more days. This is more of an investment tan, one that can be worn the whole year round. Tantruth Secret Sun infused with Shea butter and avocado, is our choice for subtle sunning. Around £4.95 (tantruth.co.uk).

For easy application the quick drying spray tan from Boots No7 (£12.50) is our winner. For a deeper summer tan, and with only one day for full development, this spray on formulation allows all areas of the body to be reached, and with a natural yet rich tone, this product takes the hassle out of serious tanning

She's Electric

Electric blue or trendy turquoise eyes to complement peachy lips is the perfect way to achieve a subtle take on this seasons most daring trend; Acid Brights. Define eyes using a glitter turquoise shade, or apply a vibrant blue eyeshadow for a dramatic dazzle. Either way it’s a gorgeous look to stand out this summer.

From left to right; 2true Eyeliner Dazzler (£1.95 Superdrug), W7 Eyeliner (£2.99 discountcosmeticsuk.com), No 7 Metallic Waterproof Eye Pencil (£7.40 Boots), 2true Eyeshadow Dazzler (£1.99 Superdrug).

Queen Be

By far the most Bootylicious Queen of RnB is Beyonce. We saw her gig at the O2 on Bank Holiday Monday and to use the term Super Star is an understatement! Queen Be is up there with the Whitney’s and Mariah’s of our generation. With an outstanding rendition of Ave Maria the emotional wreckage that was the Fashion Victim team was laughable…get a grip. Then came the mix up of Destiny's Child glory days and a mash up of all the Divas memorable hits too. With dance moves to adore and a true beauty to envy, Be my love…you get the thumbs up!

5 June 2009

Oh Goody...

Camouflage hair tools for the quick grip up do, with the ColourCollection from Goody hair accessories. Designed with bleached blondes and buxom brunettes in mind, these clips, grips and bands blend with the tones of your hair to create an accidentally on purpose messy up style.

Prices start from £1.80 and are available from Boots and Body Care Stores.

Meaty Britney and No Carbs Nadine

Oh my god that Britney's shameless, I'm Crazy for Britney, Oops I did it again...You guessed it we're off to see Britters (lip sink) BOTHERED! Fashion Victim's just want to see the sequins, brassieres and 12 inch stilettos roam around the dance floor like a sex starved Ron Jeremey. Although we've heard she's looking in ship shape (even if the extensions are still a little hit and miss). Fitney we salute you for that commendable shapely figure you're sporting. A little meat on her bones makes the fuller faced Britney look more like in her lovable Hit Me Baby days. Not like last week when the Fashion Victim team went and watched the gorgeous girls aloud... who were looking like five slices of wafer thin ham. As great as we think you are girls...get a burger in your gob quick! Which brings to me to claims of Nadine weighing her carb free food in the Ivy this week, and sending it back to the kitchen because it weighed too much. If this is true then Nadine, get a grip, and be prepared to be high jacked by a carb colossal cheese pizza soon..!

If I was a rich girl...

If I was a rich girl la-la la-la la-la la-la laaa

All day long I’d sip Cosmopolitan, lying on this sun-lounger...

And who could blame me when it looks this good? Unfortunately the price tag is not for the faint-hearted but we can dream.

3 of the best stand-out cushions

When it comes to cushions, we tend to go for the ones that match the curtains, rug, or wallpaper. Meh.

Here are some rather more interesting cushions that probably won’t match the sofa that your parents gave you when you moved in.

Wearing Wayfarers with no lenses – the verdict

You may have noticed people doing this recently. It’s cool don’t you know. Or is it?

Wayfarers themselves are never going to go out of fashion so technically Wayfarers without lenses should be in too, right? As you may have guessed this is something I am as yet, undecided on.

Some harder to find, original Wayfarers have clear glass lenses – this may be where the new trend has sprung from. But, in these recessioned-out times, beggars can’t be choosers.

Weighing up the pro’s and con’s – on the plus side: Geek Chic is what we are all raving about at the moment, glasses frame the face and… if you take out the lenses you accentuate the eyes and can actually see where you are going at night (that’s surely got to be a good thing).

On the downside: confidence is key to pulling off this look - so if in doubt, leave it out.

The verdict: why not buy a cheap pair from Primark (£2), pop out the lenses and give them a go. If you don’t like the lens-less look, pop the lenses back in and wear them the traditional way. If you love the look, consider buying the clear lens Wayfarers for heavens sake, they look so much better. Voila.

Massive reductions on Diesel bags at TK Maxx

We all know TK Maxx offers loads of designer names for a loss less than the RRP, but the best bits usually get snaffled up so quickly that unless you camp out for the stock lorry, you’ll probably miss out.

All hail the beauty of online shopping; after having a quick look at the website, we came across loads of amazing bargains – all available to buy without having to trawl through the racks.

Some of the best bits have got to be the range of Diesel handbags that are so severely reduced, we are sure they won’t be around for long. Oh we do love a bargain.

Check out our favourites:

Diesel Margot shoulder clutch £69.99 (RRP £195.00)
With gorgeous detail on the strap, this compact bag is feminine yet edgy.

Diesel handcrafted Louvre bag £69.99 (RRP £227.00)
A great size, the colour is on trend and because the bag is handcrafted each one is slightly different. We'd definitely get a lot of wear out of this one!

Diesel frame Musa bag £69.99 (RRP £330.00)
Super soft leather and big enough to fit everything into. This one is also a huge and pretty much irresistable bargain.

Diesel frame chic Doris bag £79.99 (RRP £297.00)
We love a design that's a little bit different and here the head of the nail has definitely been hit. The sequins just add to the appeal of this bag. Love it.

Work out your Glasto timetable

The long-awaited Glastonbury line-up has been released with some absolute stonkers set to grace our eardrums with their presence.

As always there are clashes, some more brutal than others, causing us to tear our hair out trying to choose between which band we love the most.

It is always best to try and iron out such issues before the band is about to start, that way you can figure out who you are going to see and who with - without letting anyone down in the process. There is nothing worse than spoiling the festival atmosphere with an argument over who did the disappearing act.

So here we have a great little tool to help you plan your Glastonbury days; this Clashfinder is as accurate as we can get for now – courtesy of www.havlin.co.uk.

Please, no tears.

Bring it on Brüno!

The camp fashionista that loves to bitch is back. We can’t wait to get the giggles over Brüno - Sacha Baron Cohen’s gay alter-ego and his latest analysis of modern life.

Whilst man-buttocks in the face of Eminem are unavoidably laughable, it seems that the best is yet to come. In an interview for Marie Claire (July issue out tomorrow), Brüno outlines his A-Z of fashion which is set to make us laugh and the politically correct throw a wobbily.

On Amy Winehouse: "... not too skinny, in fact, for ein junkie she is actually zehr fat."

On Naomi: "She's amazing - 20 years in ze business und all ze pressure und fame hasn't changed her a bit. She's remained a total bitch."

On Madonna's adoption of Malawian baby David Banda: L is for "Little black child... thanks to Madonna und Bruno, it's zis season's vardrobe essential".

We know its mean, but we can’t help but laugh!

Brüno first appeared on the Paramount Comedy Channel before reappearing on the Ali G Show in the late ‘90s and has now landed a feature length film. Other Bruno appearances include several high profile fashion shows, such as the Prada fashion show in Milan where he managed to foil security and strut his stuff on the catwalk before being thrown out. Haha!

The mockumentary film, Brüno, is out next month.

Once A Mag, Now A Bag

Bagzontherun.com is a website that offers a range of ethical bags and fashion accessories made from recycled materials such as inner tubes, seat belts and even comics. There are both male, female and unisex designs available, giving the British public the chance to be both fashionable and environmentally friendly.

The bags are designed and made in Columbia where workers throughout the supply chain receive above minimum wages. The company aims to challenge perceptions of Colombian products and to unite Colombia and the UK through fashion and culture.

We love their range of ladies bags that are made from recycled magazines, making no two the same. Sealed with vegetable based lacquer, these bags are 100% eco chic.
